“I felt helpless.”
Melissa Kando has been in the medical-spa industry since she was 17-years-old.
Her business, GLO Laser & Skin Studio, started as a home-based business and has expanded ever since, with Melissa opening a new location at Hwy 27 & 7 on February 14, 2020 – a month before the first lockdown, and two trimesters into her pregnancy.
The next few months were even more challenging. Melissa’s mom was diagnosed with cancer, and sadly passed away in May 2020. Shortly thereafter, she gave birth to her son.
“There were positives and negatives with the pandemic. The business was touch & go but being closed gave me the time I needed to be with my mom and my son.”
With significant financial investments in the clinic, Melissa tuned to product sales to boost her income and pay off some of her debt. The clinic educator says she is thankful for a decade of clients who haven’t gone elsewhere, and who have supported her the entire time.
Today, GLO Laser & Skin Studio is open again, treating clients in laser hair removal, microneedling, dermaplaning, botox & fillers, mesotherapy and more.
