CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS

 

VAUGHAN CELEBRATES CANADA DAY
Saturday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Admission is FREE.

Join the celebration of Canada’s 156th birthday at the City of Vaughan’s annual Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day event. Mark your calendars to be a part of Vaughan’s award-winning Canada Day celebration on Saturday, July 1 at Boyd Conservation Area (8739 Islington Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., headlined by Sam Roberts Band!

Featuring an exciting lineup of music and entertainment, this free family-friendly event includes live performances, activities, food vendors, a business zone and much more. Stage entertainment will start at 11:30 a.m. with an official welcome from Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council at 6:30 p.m. Food trucks will also be on-site so you can snack all day and night.

  • Sonshine & Broccoli
  • Recreation Services – Zumba
  • Earth Rangers
  • Samba Squad
  • Dolly Bollywood
  • BMX Stunt Show

Plan to stay to make the most of your Canada Day. Special hotel packages are available at select hotels in Vaughan, which include free transportation and a food voucher for the event. Explore your accommodation options early to secure your stay.

As you make your way to Boyd Conservation Area, explore Kleinburg Village. With its wide range of unique shops, bakeries and restaurants along Islington Avenue and Nashville Road, you’re also steps away from beautiful trails, such as the William Granger Greenway Nature Walk or the outdoor paths at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Travel just a little further and check out guided nature tours at the Kortright Centre for Conservation. If you go, don’t miss out on sampling their maple syrup.

CELEBRATION CANADA AT CANADA’S WONDERLAND

Saturday, July 1 to Friday, July 9, 2023 from noon to 8 p.m.
Included with Park Admission.

Join Canada’s Wonderland for the country’s birthday celebration, showcasing live music, authentic Canadian food, street performers, and more! The celebration starts with a bang on July 1 and their spectacular Canada Day fireworks display.

Grab a drink and join the festivities in Frontier Canada, enjoying some toe-tapping live music and bands. Live entertainment takes to the stage each day and street performers regularly roam the festival. Try your hand at interactive games or take a break between rides and relax in a Muskoka chair. Indulge in delicious Canadian foods, including Alberta beef sliders, Montreal smoked meat flatbread, Atlantic Canadian “Halifax donair” as well as Canadian drinks like the classic Caesar. Plus, it would not be a true Canadian celebration without one of the country’s most iconic dishes… poutine –delicious fries topped with soft cheese curds and mouth-watering gravy. You’ll want to come back for seconds… or thirds!

ENJOY INFLUENTIAL CANADIAN ART: TOM THOMSON EXHIBIT AT THE MCMICHAEL

Tom Thomson: North Star Exhibition
Saturday, June 24, 2023 to Sunday, January 14, 2024

Launching just in time for Canada Day, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection exhibits a collection from Tom Thomson (1877–1917) who is indisputably Canada’s preeminent modern painter, and his catalytic achievement changed the face of Canadian painting forever. This exhibition will offer a close look at Thomson’s legacy, focusing on the small en plein air oil sketch, of which he is the supreme master.

Organized by the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the National Gallery of Canada. Curated by Ian A.C. Dejardin, Executive Director, and Sarah Milroy, Chief Curator, McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
