City of Vaughan’s Festival of Lights
Are you the house on the street with the amazing light display and tons of festive cheer? Here’s your chance to shine! Festive lights and decorations are a hallmark of the holiday season and a meaningful symbol to get the community in the festive spirit. The City of Vaughan is introducing a new Festive Lights program this winter to recognize residents who go above and beyond to decorate their homes and properties with exceptional pride in their light displays. This is a chance for you and your neighbours to celebrate each other’s cultures and Vaughan’s diversity.
It all kicks off on Friday, November 10, 2023, – you won’t want to miss this free event which will include the unveiling – and first illumination – of a new Vaughan sign at City Hall. The kickoff event will also feature official remarks from Mayor Steven Del Duca, an interactive DJ and free hot chocolate.

- November 20, 2023 – Join Mayor Steven Del Duca and members of council to celebrate Diwali
- December 1, 2023 – The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Vaughan City Hall
- December 10 and 11, 2023 – The City of Vaughan’s annual Menorah Lighting Ceremonies
Kleinburg tree lighting

The annual Kleinburg Tree Lighting event is a wonderful yearly tradition. There will be offering hot coffee, hot chocolate, tea, popcorn, pictures with Santa Claus, and more—all free of charge.
Smart Centres City Lights and Tree Lighting
100 New Park Place
If you’ve ever wanted to experience what it’s like to walk under a massive Christmas tree, be sure to put this experience on your list! The tree was unveiled in November 2022 at a ceremony at 100 New Park Place, kicking off the City Lights at SmartVMC festival. Last year’s unveiling of the 114 ft tall Christmas tree was mentioned in BlogTO as being “…the country’s tallest walk-through LED tree experience…”
Located at the SmartCentre Bus Terminal at VMC subway station, this high-tech dazzling display of lights will make for fantastic photo opportunities! The tree features over 70,000 LED lights that can be programmed with animated displays.
