Sometimes it’s hard to think about the subway as being anything more than a way to get you from point A to B. But in Vaughan, the subway stations are something special and a great place to get those artsy shots for your social media feed.
The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station features a zinc-clad domed structure with skylights for natural light and incorporates public art elements to enjoy and photograph.
The Highway 407 Subway Station features a series of multi-coloured glass panels integrated into the skylights called the “Sky Ellipse.” The colours shift with the natural light as the sun moves across the sky, animating the space and creating a dynamic visual experience throughout the station, making it a great spot for fun photos.
Constructed in honour of the people of our community who laid down their lives in the Great War (1914 to 1918), this is a beautifully landscaped and terraced war memorial where you can find a large stone tower and original artillery. The site is designed in four stepped levels; the highest level is occupied by the tower and each level is supported by a retaining wall of cut stone. When you post images of this memorial on social media, it’s for more than likes. You are ensuring we never forget the ultimate sacrifice made by those who came before us.

You may even see some wildlife swimming around, like ducks, geese and turtles!
Beyond the galleries of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection are 100 acres of forested land in the Humber River Valley. Through a network of outdoor paths and hiking trails, visitors can explore the Ivan Eyre Sculpture Garden, which features nine beautiful bronze sculptures.
