Things to do in Kleinburg Village
Each November, the City of Vaughan pauses to honour history and reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our freedoms. Remembrance Month is a symbol of the City’s ongoing commitment to remember the courage and contributions of veterans, service members and their families.
Join Mayor Steven Del Duca and Members of Council to honour the brave Canadians who served and continue to serve our country at the City’s Remembrance Day service on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodbridge Memorial Tower (80 Wallace St.).
Standing proudly in the heart of Woodbridge Memorial Park, the Woodbridge Memorial Tower, commonly known as the Woodbridge Cenotaph, was built in 1924 to honour soldiers who served in the First World War. Its limestone walls, bronze plaques and striking design continue to draw visitors who come to place poppies and pause in remembrance.
Nearby coffee shops and eateries along Woodbridge Avenue provide warmth and connection each Remembrance Day, where local veterans, schools and families gather for a ceremony of wreath-laying, readings and a moment of silence.
Nestled near Nashville Road, the Nashville Cemetery Monument marks the resting place of early Vaughan residents and several service members from Canada’s world wars. Quietly surrounded by maples and open fields, it’s a fitting place for personal remembrance. Visitors often leave small flags or handwritten notes as a simple gesture of thanks in a peaceful setting.
Families can visit the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, where select works capture the resilience of wartime Canada, or explore heritage exhibits at the Village at Black Creek. These visits turn remembrance into learning, and bridge together generations through art and storytelling.
Whether you attend a ceremony, visit a monument or take a quiet walk beneath autumn trees, Vaughan offers many ways to remember with gratitude and respect.
