Whether you prefer skating on an indoor rink or taking a winding scenic journey through nature, Vaughan has several skating options. Try gliding along The Sports Village Outdoor Skate Path located at 2600 Rutherford Rd. And when you’re sufficiently tuckered out, the concession stands at The Sports Village offer a wide variety of snack foods and drinks to help you warm up and recharge. The Sports Village Outdoor Skate Path provides access to healthy outdoor activities all winter long. So bundle up, bring your skates and enjoy a nice day on the ice!

City of Vaughan Outdoor Rinks and Skating Loops
Vaughan is home to several outdoor skating rinks where you can skate for FREE! Whether you’re looking to pick up skating as a new hobby or enjoy an afternoon of skating with friends, there’s a rink in Vaughan for you. Enjoy the crisp winter air at one of the City of Vaughan’s outdoor rinks and skating loops:
- Carrville Community Centre (655 Thomas Cook Ave.)
- Chancellor Community Centre (350 Ansley Grove Rd.)
- Cortellucci Square (300 Maplecrete Rd.)
- Dufferin Clark Community Centre (1441 Clark Ave. W.)
- Father E. Bulfon Community Centre (8141 Martin Grove Rd.)
- Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave. W.)
- Secord Park (65 Secord Ave.)
- The Sports Village skating path (2600 Rutherford Rd.)
- Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)
*Weather permitting, all outdoor rinks are open until 11 p.m., with the exception of Father E. Bulfon Community Centre, which closes daily at 10:30 p.m.

SNOW SPORTS
Sledding and Tobogganing at North Maple Regional Park
Grab your toboggan or sled and head to the hills at North Maple Regional Park (NMRP) to enjoy a day of fun in the snow. This signature park is situated in the heart of Vaughan and spans across 364 hectares (900 acres) of land. The hills make for great sledding runs for the entire family. Even the occasional blast of snow in your face is a small price to pay for a great day of sledding and tobogganing! Ongoing construction at North Maple Regional Park’s tobogganing hill and trails means seasonal closures may be in effect. Please check vaughan.ca/NMRP regularly for weather closures, construction updates and more information on when the hills are open.

Skiing and Snowboarding at Uplands Golf & Ski
Vaughan’s Uplands Golf & Ski Club offers a friendly, welcoming environment where kids and adults can discover the joy of skiing and snowboarding. With a vertical drop of 100 feet and slopes of varying difficulty averaging 1,000 feet in length, Uplands is a great place for beginner skiers and snowboarders of all ages – especially children. The gentle slopes are designed for beginners.Uplands has certified instructors, ski camps and lessons tailored for all ages and skill levels.

Open Trails and Walking Paths
And finally, if you’re simply looking to go on an afternoon stroll through a winter wonderland, Vaughan offers many open trails and walking paths. Hike the Boyd Conservation Park, the William Granger Greenway or Marita Payne Park. Or get your 10,000 steps in by strolling through neighbourhoods that are closer to home by window shopping in Kleinburg Village or walking through neighbourhood parks, such as Sugarbush Heritage Park. Any way you cut it, the fresh crunch of newly fallen snow under your boots awaits you and your family in Vaughan.
