Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day

July 1, 2022

Join the celebration of Canada’s 155th birthday in-person at the City of Vaughan’s annual Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day event. Back in-person this year, the event will be headlined by multiple JUNO Award nominee Scott Helman, and it will take place at Boyd Conservation Park (8739 Islington Avenue) on Friday, July 1 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Featuring an exciting lineup of music and entertainment, this free family-friendly event includes arts and crafts, interactive activities, life-sized games, ping pong, character meet-and-greets, video game stations and so much more! You can also enjoy free admission, giveaways (while quantities last) and food available for purchase.

Other scheduled live performances include,

  • David James, Canadian country music singer/songwriter
  • Olivia Lunny, Canadian musician and winner of CTV’s The Launch
  • Stuck On Planet Earth, Canadian rock band from Vaughan
  • Exodus – A Tribute to Bob Marley
  • Kreative in Dance Styles (K.I.D.S)

 

As you make your way to Boyd Conservation Area, explore Kleinburg Village. With its wide range of unique shops, bakeries and restaurants along Islington Avenue and Nashville Road, you’re also steps away from beautiful trails, such as the William Granger Greenway Nature Walk or the outdoor paths at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Travel just a little further and check out guided nature tours at the Kortright Centre for Conservation. If you go, don’t miss out on sampling their maple syrup.

Flag Fete

July 2, 2022, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Celebrating some of the biggest names in Reggae, Dance Hall and Soca music, on July 2, OneLove Nation presents Flag Fete. Taking place at Assembly Park (80 Interchange Way), the music festival features live performances from Kerwin Du Bois, Teddyson John, Erphaan Alves, Tallpree, Sekon Sta, Super Blue, Imani Ray, Rae, Miguel Maestre, and more!

Plan dinner before the concert and take your pick of dining options located nearby. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite at a café or lingering over dinner on a patio, be sure to save room for dessert from one of the local bakeries too.

 

Celebration Canada at Canada’s Wonderland

July 1 – July 17, 2022

Even if you won’t be in Vaughan on July 1, Canada Day celebrations keep on going at Canada’s Wonderland! Until July 17, enjoy a vibrant showcase of live music and street performers in the heart of Canada’s Wonderland’s Frontier Canada. Enjoy authentic Canadian cuisine, including peameal bacon and beef sliders or poutine and mac ‘n’ cheese, while watching the wood carving and axe throwing skills of the West Coast Lumberjacks. Then, round out the day taking in the spectacular fireworks display, a winning celebration for everyone!
