Sugarbush Heritage Park

Looking for a scenic fall destination for a pleasant walk or hike with the family? Look no further than Sugarbush Heritage Park (91 Thornhill Woods Dr.). Its dense canopy of mature sugar maples and beech trees transforms the park into a vibrant autumn sanctuary of red, yellow and gold. Its flat 2.4-kilometre looped dirt and gravel trail network takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete, making it the perfect place to soak in the season’s colours.

Of note: It’s a great spot to snap memories and you can enjoy free admission, parking, washroom facilities, playground and an off leash-dog area. Did someone say “Puppy pictures?”

Mackenzie Glen District Park

Mackenzie Glen District Park (220 Cranston Park Ave.) is another prime destination to capture some fall photographic moments. This family-friendly spot is filled with vibrant seasonal colours, providing the perfect opportunity to capture the beauty of fall. And guess what? You may even come across wildlife like migrating ducks and geese, herons and songbirds, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and the occasional deer.

Of note: Here you can enjoy playgrounds, sports fields, picnic areas and find interpretive signage detailing the region’s history.

William Granger Greenway

You may not be able to say “fiery fall foliage” five times fast, but you’ll want to experience it at the William Granger Greenway (William Granger Greenway, Kleinburg). The dense tree canopy overhanging the Humber River Valley turns into brilliant shades of orange, red and gold this time of year, making it ideal for landscape and trail photography. Wide gravel paths wind through a mesmerizing corridor of mixed forests and open meadows along the East Humber River. With scenic viewpoints and elevated stretches just north of Rutherford Road, you can capture sweeping shots of rolling, tree-lined hills.

Of note: The northern end near Kleinburg connects to Bindertwine Park, making it easier to extend your outdoor adventure!

The Village of Kleinburg

You’d be hard-pressed to find a more delightful fall walk than one through the Village of Kleinburg (10522 Islington Ave.). Looking beyond the boutiques, restaurants, unique treasures and hard-to-find items is a picturesque escape featuring vibrant autumn foliage along the Humber River, historic 19th-century streetscapes and many cozy and charming local spots. Mature trees draped in golden fall colours create a picture-perfect setting for a day of exploration and photography. Whether you’re strolling, browsing local shops or stopping for a bite to eat, the Village offers countless opportunities to capture memorable seasonal moments.

Of note: Looking to extend your visit? The Kortright Center for Conservation is right in the Village’s backyard, offering even more ways to experience the season!

The Village at Black Creek

During the height of the fall season, The Village at Black Creek (1000 Murray Ross Pkwy) transforms into a living portrait of the 1860s framed by brilliant red, orange and golden autumn leaves. Here you will find more than 40 19th-century rustic timber and white picket-fenced heritage buildings,  heirloom gardens and dirt pathways that capture the charm of a bygone era. Fallen leaves blanket the village grounds while farm animals roam nearby, creating a truly unique seasonal experience and a dream setting for content creators!

Of note: Costumed interpreters dressed in authentic 1860s period attire provide nostalgic focal points to bring your pictures to life.
