Here’s a see-it-to-believe-it stop in Maple Village. That Pretzel Dough (2316 Major Mackenzie Dr., Unit 3) may have started with delicious pretzels, but now they also offer doughnuts and doughnut walls, pastries, sandwich and charcuterie platters and cones, mini cheesecakes and more. They’re in the celebration industry and their expanded menu has options for gatherings of all kinds. A wonderful Italian restaurant in the heart of Maple Village is 9Baci (10200 Keele St.). Here you will find a wide variety of stunning dishes including pizzas, pastas and seafood. Indulge in their extensive wine list and overindulge with dessert on the patio! At 9Baci you’ll find great atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and great service. Farro Ristorante (2136 Major Mackenzie Dr.), created by restaurateurs Roberto DeLuca and Carmine Biasi, is a fun neighborhood gathering place that offers reasonable, innovative Italian food in an elegant and friendly atmosphere. Farro is an ideal place for a speedy lunch or relaxing dinner, offering unique and classic selections such as salads, pastas, veal, chicken, seafood, pizzas, a wine list to die for and so much more. It’s an absolute gem of a destination restaurant, with superb food, service and lovely ambiance.
While Maple Village may be considered a hub for great dining experiences, it’s also an amazing place to work off some of those extra calories. Just north of Maple Village is Mackenzie Glen District Park (220 Cranston Park Ave.). Here, you’ll find an off-leash dog area, a playground, a picnic area with tables, a soccer field, a kiddie train and a space for outdoor concerts. There are also paved and lit trails (‘easy’ rated totaling 3.2 kilometres) and public washrooms. For a more educational experience, there’s interpretative signage about the history of the location as well.
