Trails to Visit in Vaughan
A day of fun in the sun in Vaughan is yours for the taking. Pack up the sunscreen, sunglasses, a baseball cap and some water – and don’t forget the kids, because it’s time for family fun! Summer is a glorious time to enjoy the outdoors, engage in some physical activity and create family memories that will last forever. Whether you’re looking for a single-day trip or a weekend of fun times in the sunshine – Vaughan offers a variety of activities and attractions for families of all sizes, including the kids and kids at heart.
We all know Canada’s Wonderland is the place to be if you love incredible rollercoasters and other attractions. But if you’re looking for something less strenuous on your heart, and a lot more refreshing in the summer heat, head over to Splash Works. This 20-acre water park features 17 thrilling slides and other water attractions to indulge your wet and wild side. Go cliff jumping at Mountain Bay Cliffs or try the drop-launch chamber of Muskoka Plunge, where you will free fall from a 60-foot drop and reach speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. Then there’s Lakeside Lagoon, a wading pool for the little ones.
New in 2024 is Moosehorn Falls, a rafting adventure that takes up to six guests down a rushing river cascade of twists, turns and scary drops. The final moments propel you to the summit of a zero-gravity 13-metre wall of water. Experience a moment of weightlessness before gravity rushes you downstream to a momentous splash!
And if you’re looking to stay close to home, the City of Vaughan has splashpads and water play areas at numerous community parks. Larger and more complex water play areas can be found in district parks. Splashpads are open daily, subject to weather and surface conditions. Situated about 10 minutes north of Toronto, on 325 hectares of pristine woodlands, nature trails, fields and wetlands, Kortright Centre for Conservation hosts demonstrations of new sustainable technologies. The 1.6-kilometre Innovation Trail features one of Canada’s largest educational demonstrations of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies. Kortright also offers summer camps and birthday parties for kids.
And there’s even more family fun at Kortright! We’re talking about three unique themed Outdoor Family Experiences. In the Nature Experience, guided by an experienced leader, you will learn about trees and birds and discover the various creatures that live in a pond. The Survival Skills experience is a hands-on program where you will learn how to build a fire, make shelters and more. Finally, the Mapping and Orienteering program is an active introduction to understanding map features and orienteering. These experiences run alternately on Saturdays all summer long
