How to Spend Your Long Weekends in Vaughan
So, what is Barn Door Blooms? The City of Vaughan, with the support of Tourism Vaughan, is installing decorative barn doors across the city at select parks! These installations will be decorated with stunning flowers and lush plants!
In addition to enhancing the beauty of our public spaces, these floral barn door installations serve as vibrant and colourful backdrops for residents and visitors to enjoy. You can explore the parks and local communities while engaging with the display by taking beautiful family or group photos.
One site from each ward will feature a picture-perfect installation. You can find them at the following locations:
299 Stegman’s Mill Rd.
While you’re there, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection is a 10-minute walk away. Make the most of your day with a visit to Kleinburg Village where you can find many dining options, and a historical site – The Doctor’s House. Built in 1867, this charming event venue features a chapel set on beautiful grounds. All great locations for a photography visit on your Barn Door Blooms tour!
100 Lawford Rd.
Taking a photo at Barn Door Blooms is one way to preserve a great day in Vaughan – visiting Canada’s Wonderland and Splash Works is another! Why not do them all? While you’re in the area, head over to Kortright Centre for Conservation, only a five-minute car ride away.
91 Thornhill Woods Dr.
Just a short drive away from this photo op is Uplands Golf and Ski Club, designed in 1922 and considered one of the top 500 golf courses in the world. Enjoy a quick round and a leisurely lunch as you make memories!
121 Centre St.
Another Barn Door Blooms installation can be found outside MacDonald House, heritage home of James Edward Hervey MacDonald, an original member of the Group of Seven. A short car ride away, you’ll find Promenade Shopping Centre, home to over 150 stores and restaurants.
7800 Islington Ave.
Nearby this installation is Market Lane Shopping Centre in the heart of old Woodbridge. Take in 80,000 square feet of retail, service and food spaces. Market Lane offers a metropolitan vibe without the hassle of a long commute. Only a short walk away is Woodbridge Memorial Tower, a war memorial with a large stone tower and original artillery – another stunning location where you can capture family memories or portraits. There’s so much to do on Woodbridge Avenue!
